Hyper social means that we can link people, places and ideas in real time and real space. This means that we can get the value of 'amazon referrals'* in the real world. There's plenty i could say about this, but i haven't got time - just think:
people, place, time, money, space, assistant, idea** = future
* the amazon thing is a bit of a joke, but i think you'll be smart enough to sort of know what i mean ** idea is a way of expressing meaning which i guess is now what they call 'tagging' or xml
HyperSocial is people talking with people everywhere. Not only random strangers, but people that you know and care about.
HyperSocial combines with PervasiveComputing- when computers are everywhere and attached to everyone.
You can get out of work on your lunch break, and see who is within 1 mile, also on their lunch break, also interested in the same things you are interested in, working on the same (or related) projects that you are working on, and available to chat right at that moment.
You can call them on the phone, ask, "wanna meet?" and then use the higher bandwidth real-time real-physical presence interaction, by following the "walk-down-the-road-and-see-the-other-person" protocol.
Groups of people find each other and establish rhythym.
The idea that the Internet was de-socializing people is a huge joke, put out by those who fear technology.
HyperSocial is the beginning of the HumanSingularity.
In face-to-face conversation, (especially in
OneGiantRoom
http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?OneGiantRoom ), other people learn from
overhearing your conversation.
Sometimes I *want* other people to overhear what I'm saying -- why spend an hour carefully polishing a piece of text or drawing an illustration, if only 1 person is going to ever see it ? See TransparentEmail.
